Hello and welcome!
We are AVALANCHE. If you’re interested in world domination, building drama mako reactors, or want to fulfil your goals without regard for the Planet and other people, then you’re at the wrong place. Please head to that big shaft shining building in the middle of the pizza, that’s where Shinra is located.
Now that we got that out of the way…
AVALANCHE is a multi-purpose multi-ship multi-verse roleplay discord server, created in conjunction with the @midgaravalanche account on twitter. Our vision is to create a positive and inclusive roleplaying environment. Our mission is to foster friendships, fuel fascinating plots, and to put on fun events for the verse. While we are most active in the FFVII verse, we welcome people from all fandoms.
AVALANCHE has been known to miscalculate the explosives needed, or miss our target on occasion. But rest assured, we work hard to promote a supportive environment that allows creativity to flourish, and create space for everyone and their muses. To do this, please take some time to familiarise yourself with the rules of our discord server. Please read them thoroughly, as we do not wish for any miscommunications or drama to arise.
These rules, while made for discord, also apply to our roleplay events we run on twitter - if we find you to be out of line, bigoted, or otherwise an unfriendly presence at our events to cause others upset and anxiety, you will be barred from attending
Rules for Real Life
1. You must be 18+ without exception.
2. You will meet people from all walks and stages of life here. Please be mature in your interactions. If and when differences of opinions occur, those involved should resolve it like adults instead of stirring up strife. Learn from Elsa; just let it go.
3. In cases where conflicts have reached a stalemate, or there are issues pertaining to this server in general, please remember that these are for the Administrators (those with @AVALANCHE HQ roles) and Moderators (those with @SOLDIER roles) to resolve. We welcome and encourage feedback via DM, but we do not tolerate individuals who take it upon themselves to act as problem solvers. Leave it to us, please. And if you don’t talk to us about something that is bothering you, remember we can’t help what we don’t know is a problem.
4. Be nice. Yes, a rather all-encompassing rule, but it really shouldn’t be that difficult an idea to grasp. This includes but is not limited to giving everyone the benefit of the doubt, refrain from judging, and not to take stuff too personally. Respect people’s pronouns and space. And just so we are clear: this is a LGBTQ+ friendly space, we do not discriminate against any race/religion/creed/citizenry, and this is a safe space for individuals with all manners of mental/health issues. If you’re confused or want clarification, ask any Admin/Mod.
5. No name dropping, with one single exception (see Rule #14). That also means no nicknames, initials, sly references, or anything like that. We do not wish for this server to be utilised as a space to shit-talk behind other people’s backs. If you have a problem, go talk to the person or vent to a friend in DM/GC. You can reach out to any Admin/Mod if you have concerns about anyone in this server, and we would mediate.
Rules for Roleplaying
1. Be nice, part two electric boogaloo. There’s a smorgasbord of muses you will meet here, including but not limited to canon-canon, canon-but-au, canon-divergent, canon-variant, OCs-that-are-actually-NPCs-within-FFVII, OCs-that-are-from-other-fandoms, OCs-that-are-original, OCs-that-are-crispy (it’s a KFC joke, now laugh), inter alia. No, you don’t have to write with everyone, but yes, you have to be nice to all so please drop the “you can’t sit with us” mentality. Be open, you never know which muse you bump into would be your next great writing partner. Take it from those of us who have been around; it’s a great way to meet people, grow your own muse and have fun writing!
2. Absolutely no ship wars. It’s a tale as old as time when it comes to FFVII, please close that dusty old book and, on this one occasion, throw it onto the bonfire that was Nibelheim and lay it to rest. You don’t have to support a ship, but neither do you have to spit on one. That being said, we are also a multiship server. Multishipping =/= cheating, do not get mad/incite drama because your partner may ship with other people. You will be issued a warning, and if it continues, further action will take place. We have a Mod who is fond of burning things, and we would happily cast you onto the flames if you are found to incite any shipping wars.
3. Appreciate the difference between in-character (IC) and out-of-character (OOC). It can get confusing, but don’t get confused. We do not tolerate people mixing up the two and making personal attacks. That being said, we also do not tolerate people hiding behind the “oh, I meant that OOC!” defense to act inappropriately. Clarify with the people involved if you are not sure, reach out to any Admin/Mod if you need assistance either way.
4. The only god we permit here is the one that lurks in the Church of the OWA; that is to say, don’t godmod. Talk to your roleplay partners, and don’t ruin the fun for anyone. If you godmod, Father Sefirot would spank you in confession. If you like that sort of thing, just go to church and ask for it.
Rules Specifically for Discord Channels and Content
1. NSFW: the titties. There is a time and place for everything. Risqué is fine, but explicit stuff should be confined to #horny-jail and our sister discord, Avalanche After Dark (where lewd is everywhere). Remember that people check in when they are in office, on the train, or with their dear old grandma peeking over their shoulder. If you can’t decide if something is appropriate for the general channels or not, be safe and keep it to the NSFW areas. Admins/Mods reserve the right to delete anything you post without warning, though generally you will be allowed to repost them in the appropriate NSFW spaces.
2. NSFW: the triggering stuff. This includes but is not limited to violence, gore, drug use, inter alia. Individuals keen on these can head to Avalanche After Dark’s Dark Rooms. They are the only spaces whereby such triggering material can be discussed in depth or roleplayed with appropriate warnings. Referring to such topics is permitted outside of Dark Rooms, but tread very lightly. We highly recommend you keep it to the Dark Rooms, DMs or create a GC with like minded individuals if that is what interests you. No judgement, in fact the Dark Rooms were created at the request of a Moderator. But this server isn’t meant for this sort of vibe. Triggering stuff outside of Dark Rooms would be deleted on sight.
3. #come-vent-away is for the moments when life happens and you want to scream about it. You are amongst friends here, so please feel free to let it out. That being said, this channel is not a therapist’s chair. Admins/Mods may reach out to anyone we notice is struggling in deeper and darker waters; please don’t take it personally, we just want to help you in getting the proper help you need. Please refer to #emergency-resources for a list of resources with trained professionals that can help you for free, and if you have any recommendation to add to the list please DM any Admin/Mod.
4. Politics If it’s related to FFVII, it is permitted. If it isn’t, keep it to the venting channel or spoiler-tag it outside the venting channel, and best of all keep it to GC/DM with other like minded individuals. And no, you can’t draw a parallel between President Rufus and any world leaders to try and circumvent this. Keep it within the FFVII context and you’ll be fine, anything else you’re better off finding another outlet. Gaia is dying, we would rather not talk about the latest decision made by a government in real life.
5. #sera-warnings; the sole exception to Rule #5 against name dropping. For the uninitiated, just trust us on this: Sera is a blight on the FFVII verse in general and the roleplaying community especially. This server also has had first-hand experience with Sera, and we are not keen to repeat it. This channel exists to list her latest/current accounts, both on twitter and discord, so that people who wish to avoid her can act accordingly. You would notice that it is a read-only channel, and it would remain that way for the foreseeable future. And please remember: this exception is only for Admins (not even Mods!) to mention Sera in this specific channel. Rule #5 still applies, so no one is allowed to talk about Sera in any shape or form anywhere. If you have any information about Sera to share, or want clarification as to who the heck she is, please feel free to reach out to any Admin/Mod.
General Rules So We're All on the same page
1. Phew, so there’s a lot of rules huh? You may be asking yourself: what happens if you or someone else breaks them? Well… ONE-WINGED ANGEL STARTS PLAYING Okay, just kidding, but barely. Offenders can expect to be pulled into a chat with Admins/Mods, and you will be given the opportunity to explain and correct your behaviour. Repeat offenders can expect increasingly stern warnings, and face being booted from the server entirely if you do not change. If you do something very egregious, we reserve the right to kick you off without any prior discussion. This is a safe place, and we are willing to give chances, but keeping members safe is our utmost priority.
2. If you have been booted from the server, what next? You may DM any of the Admins/Mods for a chat if you wish to return, and whether you will be welcomed back would be decided on a case-by-case basis. But you will not help yourself if you try to sneak in using another Discord account, or if you harass others in the server to plead your case on your behalf. The Admins and Mods are the final authority on all decisions, how they are interpreted and enacted. While we allow a lot of latitude we also set a bar for tolerances, tone, boundaries and expectations; which in turn help shape the culture of the server. It's impossible to codify everything in a set of rules. This is where "active moderation" comes in. This allows for a far more dynamic environment, but things which go over the line are handled quickly, without lawyering or nitpicking.
3. Last, but most of all - have fun! Cheesy, but true. Does not matter if you are a lurker, someone who chimes in now and then, or you want to talk about everything and anything all the time; we hope you find your stay enjoyable here!
7th heaven
Located in the slums of Sector 7 in Midgar, the original Seventh Heaven bar was built by an unnamed carpenter.
The bar is manned by Tifa Lockhart, and serves up delicious drinks and grub to the people of the Sector 7 Slums, and is home to the #7thHellChallenge, a set of six hot wings designed to challenge the mettle of any who dares try.
Intended to house an anti-Shinra base from the start; secretly it is used for the Avalanche terrorist organization. By using a secret elevator disguised as a pinball machine, Avalanche members can reach the secret headquarters below the bar's main floor.
7th HEaven nights
7th Heaven Nights are currently on hold while we work together as an admin team to figure out a good schedule so the roleplay community can come together and enjoy weekly or biweekly roleplay events stress-free! Look to our twitter @midgaravalanche for further updates, and to help us decide via polls and suggestions!

The #7thHellChallenge is a fun twitter game utilizing a random number generator to see if your character can pass the threshold of eating a series of super ultra spicy wings! At the moment, due to the overwhelming success of people's tastebuds - Tifa's concocting up an even spicier sauce to douse the wings in, and we're fine-tuning the challenge to make it a bit more challenging! MIDGAR AVALANCHE: THE ROLEPLAY COMMUNITY
We here at the Midgar Avalanche community on twitter don't have quite the same lofty and er, illegal goals (though we wholeheartedly support the downfall of capitalism and fixing global warming!)
At Midgar Avalanche, we simply strive to put on immersive events ranging from extravagant galas and balls for even the poorest character to experience magic for one night - to roleplay events where characters can shoot the shit at the 7th Heaven and meet new characters and hopefully create new connections in the roleplay community - bringing us all closer together and to create a roleplay community that thrives creatively and harmoniously.
We aim to provide a positive experience for both newcomers to the roleplay scene and the old standbys. We may make mistakes just like Barret's crew (though thankfully we've yet to blow anything up) but our goal will always remain the same: to help people remember how fun and joyful roleplaying with others can be, and that the best roleplay comes from meeting new people and creating new stories with them.
In addition, we have a directory of roleplayers listed on our carrd to help both newcomers and roleplayers who've been around, to find others to follow and hopefully connect and roleplay with! In the future, we hope to perhaps create long term, lasting storylines that affect the entire roleplay community and that have a lasting impact on characters via the events we run, whether it be a mission from AVALANCHE, a covert mission run by Shinra, or who knows! AVALANCHE - THE FICTIONAL ECO-TERRORIST GROUP
"A group of planetologists working to protect the planet. As the organization grew, smaller cells began to splinter off. To distinguish themselves among the growing factions, it took the appelation "HQ". Despite the many groups' different approaches and ideologies, they still occasionally work together for their one shared purpose: the destruction of Shinra."
The ideology of both organizations of Avalanche derives from the Cosmo Canyon-based teachings that argue that the planet is a living organism with all living creatures being part of it, all life deriving from the lifestream. They believe Shinra's actions are harmful and that continued harvest of mako energy will destroy the world. By sucking out the lifestream, the planet is being eaten away until the world will be incapable of sustaining life. To this end, they believe Shinra must be stopped by force.
In Final Fantasy VII Remake, Avalanche has been reworked into a far more modern version of a terrorist/covert organization, fragmented into small independent cells: Barret's cell is shunned by their central command and labeled "too extreme," despite another cell "running around in mil-spec gear." One of these cells is rumored to have allied with Wutai for support in exchange for all the materia they can provide in return, fueling further paranoia among Midgar's populace, which Shinra spurns to their advantage. There is an Avalanche HQ that maintains contact with all cells, including Barret's, and coordinates collaboration between them.
"Groups which have splintered off from Avalanche HQ. The Midgar cell, led by Barret, harbored misgivings about HQ's policies and decided to defect. Since going rogue, Barret and the others employ extreme, if not altogether dangerous, methods to save the planet from Shinra."

Directory info - What is it and why?
Here on Avalanche's carrd, you'll see a roleplay directory that contains a list of different roleplayer accounts of both canon characters and original characters set in the FFVII RP verse. Our goal with this is simple: to have a comprehensive list of the FF7 roleplay community so roleplayers who may be newcomers to the verse or even those who've been around for a while and are looking for something fresh - can find new people to follow and connect with! If you feel shy, or find it hard to find new people to follow and interact with, we hope that these directories help ease the burden, and make it easier to find people in the #ff7rp verse to follow.
If you'd like to be added to the directory, we have two google forms depending on what character you roleplay as.

THE FINAL FANTASY VII ROLEPLAYER DIRECTORY
This is a directory for all the FFVII roleplayers on twitter. This includes canon roleplayers, and ocs for an easily followable way to make roleplay contacts. It is by no means comprehensive - but our goal is to create a comprehensive directory for newcomers to the verse to find people to roleplay and connect with! You are also free to submit as many of your characters that you roleplay - as we know many people have multiple muses. So long as they fall under the #ffviirp verse umbrella - you are welcome to submit all 7million of your muses! No one is under any obligation to be listed however, and we will only add an account if the account owner themselves submits their own account. We will not under any circumstance, add a roleplay account with prior permission. That being said - we highly encourage submissions to find new roleplayers and for them to find you!
Duplicates are absolutely welcome, as we wish for this to be a comprehensive list, and not everyone will mesh well with different portrayals of characters, so do not feel as though you cannot submit your muse if there are already muses listed for them!

Anyone is free to join up as Honeybee Staff, all you need to do is just fill out our google form listed below and we'll add you to the list ASAP! There are absolutely no requirements involved - you don't need to worry about helping run the event - your job is to have fun! Feel free to interact with the other roleplayers during the event as you would with the job you've given your character - just remember to play nice!
